Expert Advisors are a popular tool for trading on the Forex exchange.

They significantly facilitate the trader's work, performing most of the analytical functions automatically, or completely take over the trading process. In fact, robots implement a built-in trading strategy in automatic mode, and depending on the type of strategy, the degree of their effectiveness in trading is determined.

Selecting a suitable advisor is not an easy task for a trader, but after the advisor you are interested in has been found, you need to install it correctly in the trading platform.

• After the advisor has been downloaded, many users begin to search for an installation file with the .exe extension, which may not exist at all. It is not needed, since the program will only work as an add-on to MetaTrader4, and not as an independent one. In the robot's folder, you need to find files with the .ex4 or .mql extension - this is the advisor.

• The .ex4 and .mql files need to be copied to the MQL4/experts folder. To find this directory, select "Open Data Folder" from the "File" menu. When the folder window opens and the files are copied, you need to restart MT4, or right-click on the "Advisors" line in the Navigator window and select "Refresh".

• The advisor folder may contain additional files that should also be copied to the terminal directory.

Library files with the .dll extension are copied to the MQL4/Libraries folder;

.set files (settings templates) are copied to the MQL4/Presets folder;

Other .mql and .ex4 files are copied to MQL4/Indicators.

These are the indicators that the advisor will work with.

• To add an advisor to the chart, drag it with the mouse from the "Advisors" list in the "Navigator" window. After that, a new robot settings window will open. Data on the optimal robot settings is usually in the accompanying files. Here, such options for the advisor's operation as the work period, interface color, etc. are selected.

• If you have done everything correctly, then on the advisor chart, in the header, you will see a smiling smiley. If it is not there, you should check whether all the necessary checkboxes are checked in the menu "Advisors" → "Properties" → "General".

It is also necessary that the "Auto-trading" function is active. To do this, just click on the corresponding button on the top panel of the terminal. When it is active, a green indicator will be displayed on the button.

Installing an advisor can take a little time from the trader, but if all the instructions are followed correctly, it will not cause much trouble.

Before using any robot, it is recommended to read the documentation for this tool and select the correct operating options depending on the trader's goals, his trading method, and the market situation.
